Electrical Lockout
Electrical lockout devices block the switch, breaker, plug or push button that would re-energise a circuit, so the padlock has something to hold. This collection covers circuit breaker lockouts for miniature, moulded-case and pin-in or pin-out breakers, plug lockouts for cords and industrial plugs, switch lockouts and emergency push button lockouts. Most used: the Emergency Push Button Lockout for emergency stops, the Electrical Plug Lockout Device for cords and plugs, the Universal Miniature Circuit Breaker Lockout for miniature circuit breakers and the Electrical MCB Clamp-On Lockout for clamp-on isolation. It depends on the toggle. Miniature circuit breakers with a small toggle take the Universal Miniature Circuit Breaker Lockout, which clamps the switch without a tool. Moulded-case breakers with a wide handle take a clamp-on lockout sized to the frame, such as the Electrical MCB Clamp-On Lockout 480/600 V for 480/600 V units. Measure the toggle width and the space between poles before ordering; each product page lists the sizes.
Pull the plug and lock the plug itself: the Electrical Plug Lockout Device closes around the plug so it cannot be reinserted, and takes up to four padlocks. For larger industrial connectors use the Industrial Electrical Plug Lockout. For a machine with an emergency stop but no isolator, the Emergency Push Button Lockout covers the button so nobody can reset it while the work is under way; it does not replace isolation.

Every device here has a hole for one or more padlocks, and where several people work on the same panel a hasp goes through the device first.
